Website to check vat numbers launched

Today SkillSource has launched the website Btw-nummer-controle.nl. On this site businesses can check the validity of vat numbers.
When Dutch companies do business with foreign parties within the EU, it is required to check the vat number of these parties. Businesses that do not check the details of their foreign business partners, can expect an additional fee from the Tax Office (Belastingdienst), if the specified data proves incorrect.

Previously, every single vat number had to be checked one by one. Now businesses can check a whole file with the vat numbers of EU business partners automatically.

The website makes real-time contact with the vat system of the different EU countries and checks if the specified vat number is correct.
